With warmer weather moving in, road projects and construction are getting underway, including an extensive one along Interstate 81 in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties. PennDOT says a stretch of Interstate 81 from Drinker Street in Dunmore to the Avoca exit in Luzerne County is the busiest stretch on the interstate in northeastern Pennsylvania, with 80,000 cars passing through every day.

Activists target Trump’s use of military, call for ethics reforms at separate Scranton rallies

On the afternoon of President Donald Trump's 100th day in office, about a dozen critics of the president gathered on the Lackawanna County Courthouse grounds Saturday to denounce his agenda and recent military actions. Billed as an anti-war, anti-Trump-agenda rally, the small assembly was organized by Joe Biscotto, a Pittston resident who founded the liberal political group Progressive Alternative.

PennDOT Planning Work on Interstate 81

PennDOT officials say the repairs to the interstate will happen between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport exit and the Drinker Street exit in Dunmore. The work will take place in the beginning of May and take up to three weeks to complete.
